As principal of Urbana High School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great year in Urbana. I hope everyone had a great and restful summer spent with family and friends! We are all excited for the new school year and to have students back in our hallways with energy and enthusiasm for learning. It is our mission to help every child feel welcomed, connected, and a part of our Urbana family. Additionally, we strive to challenge each student to grow in his or her academic abilities and to be college and/or career ready by the end of four years.

At Urbana, we have the following expectations for our students: set goals, work hard, study and complete tasks, maintain an open mind for learning, persevere through challenges, be courteous and respectful to others and communicate in a positive and productive manner. Our culture of “You Win with People” & “Tough Love” will be on full display throughout the hallways, performances and athletic events. These expectations are communicated through our PBIS Core Values of “Own It”, “Do the Work”, and “Respect”.  We also have great teachers who spend hours planning and creating classroom activities to engage our students in learning. Our teachers utilize research-based best practices and analyze academic data to determine current skill levels and to set goals for growth and improvement. We believe that all students should graduate from high school prepared for the demands of postsecondary education, meaningful careers and effective citizenship.

We hope that you find our website helpful and informative. All of the information we send out will be through email and on Remind (please add us on Remind @urbanahig). Information can also be found on this site. Our monthly newsletters are sent out on Friday afternoons and we upload a copy to our website under Newsletters on the left-hand side. We also have entered dates for all events and activities into the Calendar feature of our website. Additionally, we have a school Twitter account as well as my own personal account (@UrbanaHS_OH and @NateSever7) that I will use to send out updates and quick announcements as we go through the school year.

It is truly a privilege to be a part of a community where families, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth.
